Dean Fujioka’s First Translated Picture Book “Chef Ant’s Invitation” to Be Released

Dean takes on the challenge of translating a hit picture book from Italy for the first time. The Japanese edition includes a special "twist" exclusive to this version. Don’t miss his heartfelt afterword!
Message from Dean
This is my first time translating a picture book. While working on each word with care, I
constantly thought of
my family and loved ones.
Through conversations in Milan with the original author and illustrator, the words of the
translation gradually
came to life with new meaning.
If, after reading it, you feel just a bit warmer inside—and if this becomes a book you want to
keep close to
you—I'd be truly happy.
May each turn of the page deliver a little “plate of happiness” to your heart.
Story Introduction
Welcome to Chef Ant’s grand banquet!
The great Chef Ant is inviting all the animals to a dinner party.
…But deciding the seating arrangement is no easy task!
The mouse probably doesn’t want to sit next to the cat,
The sheep may end up as dinner if seated with the wolf!
The owl might even demand to dine in a dark room…
What a puzzling situation!
Will Chef Ant’s banquet go smoothly in the end!?
A surprising twist awaits at the end of this seating puzzle.
Full of humor and heart, it’s a delightful picture book that will make both children and adults
smile.
